We are particularly excited about next release party on Saturday, November 16th from 11AM to 7PM at 307 Occidental Ave S., Seattle, WA 98104. We’ve been putting on these release parties at our house for five years and we figured it was time to change things up.
Well, we soft-opened our new dedicated Locus Wines tasting room on Saturday, November 2nd down in Occidental Park in Pioneer Square. So, we are going to have this Fall party down at the tasting room and make a grand opening out of it.
This open house-style release party will be from 11AM and 7PM. We’ll have seven different wines, four of which are new release reds, paired with Ton’s always delicious culinary creations (some things will never change).
Here is what the releases and the food pairings look like:

As the Fall hints its arrival, the newly released 2017 Locus Modo Red finds itself somewhat of a hot item. As we were saying bakc in August as well, there has been a big demand for it, that we are assuming driven by hoards of winelovers abandoning the whites and the rosés for the red. (Not that there were any 2018 Locus Rosé left anyways. Even the special, wine-club only 2018 Locus Garage Series Rosé is gone. We ran out in July this year.)
This month, you will find 2017 Locus Modo Red at quite a few locations around town in Seattle, wherever you live:
There has been quite a few inquiries as to where those of you who couldn’t make it to the July party could find the new releases out and about. Just to refresh your memory: we released 2018 Locus Modo White (60% Semillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc), 2017 Locus Semillon and 2017 Locus Modo Red (70% Merlot blend). We thought a comprehensive list (as of July 31st, we don’t know who added the new wines on in August yet).
If you are inclined to eat at Ivar’s, one of Seattle’s most famous restaurant destinations, you are bound to see a familiar face (or more like a name) on their specials sheet…. Right on top, in fact. Locus Modo White and Locus Modo Red are two of the three special wines available at Ivar’s right now.
So before you start and share, better order the wines.
30 members of the Locus Wines wine club got together on Tuesday, August 13th, to test their wine-blending skills at the Tasting Room while sipping green wines (2018 vintage wines that are not quite ready for consumption really) and trying to decide what could work as a red blend, for wines that won’t even bottle until next March! That is quite the undertaking and the wine club members were up to the challenge. They feasted on grub by our resident culinarian (Ton Yazici of ESCA) and then got to it.
Locus Wines wine club, Sociuspath has three levels and the blending is part of the higher two levels as a perk. It involves exactly what we described above. So, technically, the members are paying to do our job. Good deal.
We had over 100 people come through yesterday and what a day. People drank and ate and had a good time, helping us launch 2018 Locus Modo White, 2017 Sémillon and 2017 Modo Red (a blend that is 70% Merlot). Cantaloupe Gazpacho and Dukkah Shrimp were the winners for the day, with Eggplant Caprese right on their tails.

From Liliwaup to Twisp, from Tacoma to Shoreline, the metropolitan Seattle is going through a Rosénaissance (yep, we just said that) in June and July. You can find the Locus Rosé in quite a few places over the years but for 2018 Locus Rosé, we have some newcomers: HIlltop Red Apple Market in Beacon Hill neighborhood, New Town Market in Belltown, Rogers Riverview Bistro in Snohomish, Finestere in Port Townsend, Glover Street Maket in Twisp, Cask and Schooner in Friday Harbor, Hama Hama Oyster Company in Lilliwaup are all new. Specifically, the 2018 Locus Rosé is fully stocked up in following retailers and restaurants:

Locus Wines is going to join in on the fun on Thursday evening, from 5 to 9PM, with winemaker Rich Burton in tow. Come taste the wines and show your support for the Pride Month.
